Here's a Question

So I have a question that I was wondering if you guys could answer. (I know there is probably like three of you but I'm putting this up here on the off chance I actually have a multitude of readers.) Anyways...

God forgives us when we ask Him. It says that in the Bible. While I don't understand why He loves me I know that He does so it makes sense to me that He would forgive me. But how do I forgive myself? I am hard on myself and hold onto things so I need some help with this. I would love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Cling to the Cross, hourly. your old man has been crucified: gone; the new has come! Let your guilt make His grace overwhelming. God's declaring of you righteous through Christ has far more authority than guilty feelings.

  3. Hey Sam, I've struggled with this too and it's not something I've got figured out. It helps me to think clearly and objectively about the situation as a whole (i.e. my motivations and thought processes/theirs, etc.) rather than coloring it with blame and disappointment. Sometimes I have to remind myself that it has happened and that I have done enough to atone for it and, in essence, what's done is done. Personally, I'm coming to accept that my actions are a part of me/my past, but that doesn't mean that I'm a part of them. That I can, and have, changed and well that's all I've got. Like I said, I'm still struggling with it. Leah's advice is good.

  4. thats awesome. I definitely know I have changed so I guess that as long as I can assure myself that I won't do it again I can forgive myself. Thanks a lot!
